National Apprenticeship Week

9th Feb 2023

The theme of the 2023 National Apprentice week was “skills for life” We caught up with two of our apprentices to learn more about them.

Max Rivers - Apprentice Engineer

Background

Max has worked at Prosaw since 2017 during which time he has gained a wealth of hands-on experience in cutting, machining, pre-delivery inspections, demonstrations and general service work.
During this time Max showed a real desire to become a fully qualified service engineer and with this in mind he began a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Apprenticeship.
This apprenticeship provides learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required by a Service Engineer. It covers machining, maintenance, electrics, welding, health and safety and how to conduct yourself within an engineering environment.
This qualification, along with his previous experience gained within Prosaw will ensure that Max has all the knowledge and understanding that are required within the Manufacturing and Engineering Sector.

Q & A

Q. Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
A. After my initial training, I grew a strong passion for working on machines and realised that an apprenticeship would give me the skills required to eventually become a service engineer within the company.
Q. What do you enjoy about working at Prosaw?
A. I enjoy the strong team spirit. I have been able to learn from very knowledgeable and professional engineers who are also great people on a personal level. My work has brought me into contact with amazing customers and I am learning how I can assist them in being more efficient and keep their machines working.
Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. I enjoy walking through the English countryside, particularly with the backdrop of the Peak District where I can chill. This is something I feel is important for everyone, as I am a big advocate for men’s mental health and wellbeing.
Q. What are your goals for the future?
A. My goal is to work alongside the existing service team as a field engineer. Being able to develop knowledge of our machines which I can pass onto others starting out in engineering.
